Creating Text Box

It's been awhile since I last updated. Actually, I encounter some problem opening my site. It was lost and I can't access my google account. Now it's good to be back and be able to redeem my account. I changed my password, too. I hope it won't happen again.

Anyways, since it's been two months since I last updated, I missed some of the things I wanted to say here in my page. In this case, I will not torture my mind thinking what are the things I thought to write on.

It is already the third grading period. My topic for my Computer Education subject is Microsoft Office Presentation 2007. Since I am handling a High School students that didn't have any backgrounds in Presentation, I will be teaching the basics.

Our topic, this week is "Working with Content".

Our first lesson for the Content is Creating Text Box. Text Box's are useful not only to PowerPoint but also to other Office features.

So here are the easy steps in creating Text Box.

  • 1. Go to the Insert tab and on the Text Ribbon, click the Text Box button.
  • 2. Click and drag the mouse cursor to the location where you want the text box to be.
  • 3. Type your content on the text box.
  • 4. Click and drag on the left or right handles of the text box to increase or decrease the width of the text box.

OCTOBER 5 is WORLD'S TEACHER'S DAY

Teacher's Day is celebrated every 5th of October in the whole world since 1994. It is nice to hear that teacher's are honored in the whole world.

World Teacher's Day shows the considerable token of appreciation, awareness and understanding displayed for the very important contribution which teacher’s make to development and education. Teacher's in all level is included in this celebration. Through this celebration, we also recollect the role of teachers in providing quality education.

This years Teacher's Day Theme is "Teachers for gender equality".

Why this theme? I think because the teaching profession is largely made up of women and inequality remains an issue. Many men got interested in teaching too, and equality in both men and women is enclose in most policies and constitution in many countries, the goal is still unfulfilled.

This celebration hopes and wish to fulfill this goal. Let's go and move on. Unite for success and be a model.

Happy Teachers' Day!!! (^-^)

JET LAG - SIMPLE PLAN

(They are back with this very hit song)
What time is it where you are?
I miss you more than anything
Back at home you feel so far
Waitin for the phone to ring
It’s gettin lonely livin upside down
I don’t even wanna be in this town
Tryin to figure out the time zones makin me crazy

[Chorus]

You say good morning
When it’s midnight
Going out of my head
Alone in this bed

I wake up to your sunset
It’s drivin me mad
I miss you so bad
And my heart heart heart is so jetlagged

[Verse 2]

What time is it where you are?
5 more days and i’ll be home
I keep your picture in my car
I hate the thought of you alone

I been keeping busy all the time
Just to try to keep you off my hand
Tryin to figure out the time zones makin me crazy

[Chorus]
You say good morning
When it’s midnight
Going out of my head
Alone in this bed

I wake up to your sunset
It’s drivin me mad
I miss you so bad
And my heart heart heart is so jetlagged

[Bridge]
I’ve been keepin busy all time
Just to try to keep you off my mind
Tryin to figure out the time zones makin me crazy

I miss you so bad
I wanna share your horizon
And see the same sunrising
Turn the hour hand back to when you were holding me

[Chorus]
You say good morning
When it’s midnight
Going out of my head
Alone in this bed

I wake up to your sunset
It’s drivin me mad
I miss you so bad
And my heart heart heart is so jetlagged

Semi-Detailed Lesson Plan

When I applied to this new career of mine, I thought I would handle different TLE (technology and livelihood education) fields. I prepare a simple and semi-detailed lesson plan. I am handling a Third Year level student, so I am still making plan. The course of SEC didn't require me to do lesson planning. But Third Year is still BEC program so lesson plan is necessity.

Here is a sample of semi-detailed (old style) Lesson Plan. It is not a demo material. Very simple and also very standard. This is just an everyday lesson plan. (^-^)

My Resignation Letter

I know I was disappointed with my previous employer. I really would like to say negative things to them when I resigned. But then, I am a professional. So all I do is prepare a professional resignation letter. I have learned from reading columns that saying a negative words to previous employer will do me no good but a negative impact to my 201 file. It will reflect there and somedays, I will need them or new employers would ask for my 201 file on previous employers.

So to be professional and on positive side, I prepare this one. It is my resignation letter when I left and most is sincere. (^-^)

Looking Forward

I think I'm bored. I've been in vacation for two months with nothing to do but
eat, sleep, cook, and eat, sleep, cook and ....

I am not allowed to work myself hard so basically, all I can do to help in household tasks is wash dishes or help in preparing the food.

I admit I enjoyed most of the days. But there are times that I felt bored and
sad and depressed. I never thought that doing nothing could cause me some level of depression.

In previous months before my vacation, I was so depressed and angry with my work and employer and the department heads. How I wish that time that I could be in vacation.

I was granted a vacation, but in negative, hurtful way. I lost my baby.
I now believe in the saying "Be careful what you wish for". I wish I still have
my baby even if it would mean coming back everyday in that hellish office. But it is already too late.

I am a few days away in coming back to work. I would love to go back at work but thinking of my supervisors and managers is so non-motivating. I don't look forward in coming back in the office again, but I love to work again. I hope that before this vacation ends the teaching position I applied in would send me a good news.

I am a bit afraid in the change of environment, the challenge of teaching and the life ahead as teacher but I would welcome a new life, a new adventure.

I hope I could be an inspiration. An instrument of God. I look forward to helping young minds pursue their dreams.

I pray that I could be a good example and a good educator and a better human if I am offered the job.

So help me God.

Safety Tips During Tornado/Whirlwind

Tornadoes are not common calamity here in the Philippines. We have typhoon mostly since we are on the pacific area. That's why safety tips for this events is not very popular.

Even I, who frequently on the net has no knowledge on tornado events. Just when I saw a small twister I became interested.

So here are some safety tips I learned.

1.) Just like any other calamities, we have to prepare our emergency kit (includes food, water, medications, batteries, flashlights, important documents, road maps, and a full tank of gasoline for those who has a vehicle)

2.) When the tornado approaches, stay indoors preferably in a basement if you have a basement, or an interior first-floor room or hallway if no basement.

3.) Stay away from windows. Seek shelter and additional protection in any large solid pieces of furnitures.

4.) Avoid automobiles for it provides no protection at all.

5.) If you are caught by tornadoes outdoors, lie on the flat surfaces or in a depression or on other low ground and wait for the tornado to pass.

Which do you think is better. Mineral/bottled water or fresh spring water?

Even a kid of two already knows that water is a very essential part of human life. It is second to the most important needs of our body next to air.

We are surrounded by water. Earth is composed of a large body of water.
But the question is "Can we drink any kind of water?" Of course, you are right. We can't. We can not drink salt water. We can not drink rain water. We can not drink dirty waters.

Pollution is our one BIG problem. The small amount of fresh drinking water became polluted making drinkable water lesser. That's why we find solution to the problem. And the solution? Bottled water, purified water, mineral water, etc., etc.

I learned drinking purified water when I reach the age of 17. From my birth 'til that age I was drinking fresh spring water.

I think fresh spring water is tastier than purified one. But with the pollution today, I don't think it is still safe to drink spring waters.

But in our spring, I am still confident that it is still safe. Our place is far from the road. Far from the noise and smoke of cars. It is still very hidden.

Exotic Food, I missed it.

Do you love exotic food? I do.

I grew up in a very rural area. During my childhood what you call exotic foods are just ordinary food to us. We don't understand the word exotic. We eat what is edible. No second thoughts. We don't ask if others eat it. We don't ask if it's exotic or is it ordinary.

When I came to city I discovered that what I enjoyed eating is exotic and most people can't take it. That food we get from our backyard is highly priced in the city.

In my early years, I have eaten snake meat, alligator, wild cat, etc. And one of my favorite the snail.
It is a very tasty snail. I love it with coconut milk. There is nothing to worry about this food. It is feed on decaying leaves.

Many may not like this if they see the snail physically. But if you taste it without knowing what it is, I am sure they would love it. And lately I learned that is snail is served in some fine dining restaurant and costly.

So I am proud that what rich people eat in their fine dining restaurants, I have eaten free of charge and in large
quantity.

Commoners or ordinary people are more blessed then richer ones when it comes to food. We, commoners, can eat what elite people have eaten, but elite people cannot eat what we have eaten.

So we should be proud of what we are. (-.-)

This is my first sighting of it... beautiful but dangerous

I came home around three in the afternoon on Wednesday last week when I heard a neighbor calling my husband and saying there is a twister.
My husband went outside to see for himself. I ignore it, besides I don't know what he means by a 'twister'. I continued on eating my lunch. But then I heard some commotion. There were people outside the house. Not only my husband and the man who called him but more. So I investigate. I went outside and I saw that my neighbors were all outside and looking up and pointing on something.

I did just what they were doing. I looked up.

And this was what I saw.

I was mesmerized. Really. It was soooo beautiful. But then it hit me. This is a whirlwind. It may be beautiful, but thinking the danger it brings makes me so nervous. It is in our place. What if it goes down in our place? What will I do? I read and heard tips in safety precautions and safety  tips in case of fire, earthquake, typhoon and other calamity. But I have no idea about whirlwinds, tornadoes and the likes. I felt afraid, not only for me and my family, but I felt afraid about those that will be affected if it goes down. Wherever it drops, for sure there will be casualties.

So imagine my relief when it slowly disappears before my eyes and up ahead. I am amazed about its beauty and very thankful that it didn't fall down.

A Tribute to a father

It is a very special day........

June 19 - Jose Rizal's birthday. A Philippines National Hero. A father - if not physically - then intellectually, to all of the Filipino's.

It is also our First Year Wedding Anniversary!!! Yippey! We have been through a year. (akalain mo??) We will celebrate the day by going to church to attend a mass and say thank you to the God the Father. Then we will cook a little feast for our family. Just a merienda.

And what's the third and the biggest of all? This is the day for all the father's out there!! Legally nor illegally. (^.-)

So I dedicate this simple page for all the fathers out there. For every father in the world that could read this. I dedicate this page to the father of my friends, enemies, colleagues, family, and to my husbands father and to my beloved father.

I want to give a big, big thanks to the father of my friends. If not because of you I would not meet such good friends as your sons and daughters. I enjoy my living in this world because of those good friends around me who love and supports me. Because of you, there are people like my friends to meet spend a life with. I cherish all of those days.

I would like to say thank you, too, to the father of my enemies (if there are any). Without your sons and daughters I will not grow as a person. I will not discover my weakness and my strengths. Without them I will not know who my friends are. Because of them, I distinguish the difference between good friends and bad ones. So a big thank you to all of you.

I would extend my thanks to the father of my colleagues. Without you, I will not meet my colleagues that makes my job/work easier and enjoyable. Because of them I still go to work and look forward to working again the next day. My colleagues became my friends or enemies. So I thank you.

Thanks also to the fathers that surrounds my family. My cousins, uncles, and brothers that are now a father, thank you!

Thank you to "tatay", my husbands father. I now enjoy everyday of my life with my beloved because of you. Thank you for raising him to be a good man.

Best of all, a gigantous thanks to my beloved father. I enjoy every day in this world because of you. I enjoy the beauty of the flowers, the soft breeze of the wind, the hum of the birds and the noises of the cars because of you. Thank you for raising me to be a better person. And for understanding me for every failure I made. I am so grateful and so thankful that you are my father. I love you Pa. Have a long life and take care of yourself.....HAPPY FATHER'S DAY!!!!
(simple moment with dad)

To all of the father out there.......

HAPPY FATHER'S DAY!!!!
(please be a good father :D)

It is from the album "A Thousands Sun"
I love Linkin' and I love their songs!!.. Go Linkin' Park.
Enjoy!

LYRICS:

When you were standing in the wake of devastation
when you were waiting on the edge of the unknown
with the cataclysm raining down, insides crying save me now
you were there and possibly alone.

Do you feel cold and lost in desperation
you build up all the failures all you've known
remember all the sadness and frustration
and let it go, let it go.

And in the burst of light that blinded every angel
as if the sky had blown the heavens into stars
you felt the gravity of temper grace falling into empty space
no one there to catch you in there arms

Do you feel cold and lost in desperation
you build up all the failiures all you've known
remember all the sadness and frustration
and let it go, let it go.

(Multiple Voices)
Do you feel cold and lost in desperation
you build up all the failiures all you've known
remember all the sadness and frustration
and let it go,

let it go
let it go
let it go
let it go

Do you feel cold and lost in desperation
you build up all the failiures all you've known
remember all the sadness and frustration
and let it go, let it go.

Bye-Bye Baby

April 25, 2011 - I will never ever forget that day. Ever. This is Monday morning. Time to wake up and go to work. But there is so much pain in my lower part of the abdomen. I sent a text message to my supervisor informing her that I can't come to work that day because of dysmenorrhea. I thought it is just a simple dysmenorrhea. It is normal for me. I even sometimes have a lapse of menstrual period.

But this time I can't bear with the pain. So my husband ask me to bring me to the hospital. So I did. It is then that I found out the I lost my baby.

This is the saddest part. Learning you are with your first baby but is gone. :((

We return home. Cried. and cried. and cried.

Next day, we go back to the hospital for D&C Dilation and Curettage (raspa). I was admitted for two days. Now I am in a vacation. Sixty days of vacation because of this. I wish I had my vacation as well as my baby. But it's too late now. I just hope that he is well and happy now.

My baby. Goodbye.. :((

My application Letter

I am a DATA ANALST for over three (3 years). It was my job since I graduated from my college course. But in truth I am an education graduate major in Livelihood Education (secondary division).

During college years, me and my friends talk about going to work first on non-education related job. All of us did it. But after a year or two, most of my friends continue with our career as an educator. There are only two of us remaining practicing non-education related job.

When I marry, me and my husband talk about me  going to teaching. So I am now in process of continuing this field. I am going to forward my papers this month. Here is my application letter. I am not sure if it is a good one. So I am asking for opinions and a few pointers.

LITTLE BIRDIE

A little bird was flying south for the winter. It was so cold, the bird froze and fell to the ground into a large field.

While he was lying there, a cow came by and dropped some dung on him.

As the frozen bird lay there in the pile of cow dung, he began to realize how warm he was. The dung was actually thawing him out!

He lay there all warm and happy, and soon began to sing for joy.

A passing cat heard the bird singing and came to investigate.

Following the sound, the cat discovered the bird under the pile of cow dung, and promptly dug him out and ate him.

Lessons:
(1) Not everyone who craps on you is
your enemy.

(2) Not everyone who gets you out of crap is your friend.

(3) And when you're in deep crap, it's best to keep your mouth shut!

the Turkey and the Bull

A turkey was chatting with a bull.

"I would love to be able to get to the top of that tree," sighed the turkey, "but I haven't
got the energy."

"Well, why don't you nibble on some of my droppings?" replied the bull.
"They're packed with nutrients."

The turkey pecked at a lump of dung, and found it actually gave him enough strength to reach the lowest branch of the tree.

The next day, after eating some more dung, he reached the second branch.
Finally after a fourth night, the turkey was proudly
perched at the top of the tree. He was promptly spotted by a
farmer, who shot him out of the tree.

Lesson:

Bull crap might get you to the top, but it won't keep you there.
