Palawan - dReam pLace in tHe Philippines

Last year, everyone is holding their breath for the result for the 7 new wonders of the world votes. Every beautiful places, architectures, forests, parks, and many others that hold peoples breathe that takes a look at them are nominated for the title. The voting is through the online and telephone voting. So everybody's welcomed to vote for their choices. I even joined this, but it slipped my mind to check out who had won.

It occured to me last week when I read about the Subterranean River National Park in Palawan topping the the global voting for the new seven wonders of the world under the category forest, natural parks, and nature reserves. I was so delighted reading this, not only because it really is a beautiful place, it is water-based, nature spirirted reserves, but also it belongs to my beloved country - the Philippines!

I check the net for the new 7 wonders of the world, I am a bit disappointed of the result, frankly. I admit that all of the winners are eye-catching. They have unique beauty. Everything is beautiful in it's own way. What I am a little disappointed is that all the winners are mostly architectural based. No parks, no water related, no nature, no forest. Everything is an architecture, an manmade stone built.

I don't know, I love these sites, too. But I am disappointed maybe because I am a lover of water. I love sights with water.

And I think the judges - no spun intended - are mostly architecture professional, so the rumors that judgment may be biased cannot be erased in my mind. Is it true that they've been biased in their judgment? I hope they are not. I hope they've been professional in judgment, most specially.

Voting through online and telephone is not very reliable either, I think. Countries that are widely users of internet could win much that vote. Countries that are financially stable enough, with my spare coins to to use for calling and voting could win much votes, don't you think so? Well, I think so.

Whatever, winner or not, I still love rivers, forests and nature.

The Subterranean River National Park has been consistently at the top spot upon checking in the website of the New7Wonders.

It is said to be the world’s longest passable underground river, which measures 8.2 kilometers of winding stretch that passes through a cave with major formations of stalactites and stalagmites.

Of course, I wouldn't forget that the winners are interesting. they are beautiful, as I said before, in their own ways. Here they are.
