TB ADENITIS

I became sickly before especially in the months of 2007
and the early months of 2008. I've never been sick
before, but during the 2007-2008 I was so sickly
and been almost every week to the doctor for check-ups
and laboratories.

The check-up starts when I felt very itchy on my throat,
and it aches too. It was hard to swallow and I have a flu.
When I go to the doctor, I undergo different laboratories and
the findings is that I have a HYPOTHYROIDISM. For months I drink
medicines for hypothyroidism and undergo tests for that illness.
I suffered the pain and stress for thinking of the possible surgery.
I hate surgery and afraid of it, too. Then later, there were lumps
on the side of my neck up to my shoulder.

Painful lumps that I found it hard to laugh, breath and move
my right arms. It was increasing in numbers and and I'm really
afraid. I often leave work and my fever won't leave me.
I went to a different doctor this time. Undergo different laboratories
and tests too. The doctor said I have TB ADENITIS.

Hearing the word TB sent chill on my mind and heart. It really
feared me. I don't want to separate my things to my family. I love
sharing everything I have even things I used with my family.
And one thing, I'm so afraid to die skinny and I don't want to
cough and cough. I don't want to transfer that disease to my family
too.

The doctor said this is a different kind of TB. It was not a contagious
disease. Good thing I have a good immune system and powerful defense system.

I would like to give a few information about this disease since it
gave me realy fear that I have now overcome.

ADENITIS results in swelling of the lymph nodes, and is classed by type. Though one normally recognizes the lymph nodes at the throat, and perhaps at the groin, there are lymph nodes throughout the rest of the body. Location-specific inflammation of lymph nodes is referred to as a type of adenitis, with the main symptoms in all areas being pain, and possibly drainage from the swelling.

adenitis, also called scrofula, also affects the skin and particularly the lymph nodes around the neck. It can be easily diagnosed by testing for the presence of tuberculosis, which helps rule out cervical adenitis. Since tuberculosis is now relatively rare, this form of adenitis is as well. Symptoms usually include one or more masses at the neck, fever, chills, and weight loss. Untreated, scrofula progresses to open sores.

Treatment of scrofula involves antibiotics, and may also necessitate removal of one or more affected lymph nodes since the swelling can damage nerves in the face. Recovery rates from this complication of tuberculosis are high. In most cases treated tuberculosis adenitis does not recur.

Maybe i shall talk more about this disease some other time. But it's
really reassuring knowing that once treated it won't occur again.
I'm now healed and not going to suffer again.

In June 2010, I was also diagnosed with TB Adinitis. Same with you guys, i was also scared upon hearing of the word TB. I even feared that my things will be separated from my family's, though i don't want them to be infected. But my doctor said it was not contagious. I felt better. At first, i never thought it was serious that after 2 months (up to aug. 2010) of taking medicines, i decided to quit in spite of the doctor's advice to come back after 2 months of medications. I was given fixcom 4 during that time and had to take 3 tablets at once + betavit (vit. B). And during those times, i suffered from dizziness and headache to the extent that i even came to a point that i was about to collapse. I think it was a side effect..not sure though... But because of the advices i had received from my family, this November, I decided to come back to my doctor and told him i stopped taking the medicine after two months. He was shocked upon knowing it and told me i gave him a big problem. That's when i realized my condition was serious. At present, i was in Category 2 of TB adinitis. There are still a lot of questions in my mind, i still don't have a clear answer of what will happen to me if it was not treated, how did it started, etc...I researched for it and what i've found out was alarming...The fear came back to my senses.
At present, i am undergoing retreatment and was given fixcom 3 + neurocare. This time, i will strive to follow everything because i want to be cured. Hope i can make it.

@anonymous ohh.. that's sad to hear. makes me nervous too. but good thing is that it's been over a year since i was diagnosed and 'til now i didn't feel the previous symptoms and i didn't feel any abnormalities with my body. I hope it won't come back. Good luck to your health. I'll pray that you overcome it and that you will be back to perfect health. :)

i was diagonised 4 months ago but incidentally i wasnt feeling any pains or symtoms just the swellings that appeared on my neck.it was a really hellish time for me as i underwent about five hiv tests as my nymphnodes were affected.i was really scared but thank God it was all negative.ive been taking my antibiotics though not regularly i must confess and i hope this will not affect my recovery rate.henceforth, ill try to be more consistent as i wanna be cured.i thank God as it is said the recovery rate is very high and not the contagious type.

svetlana said...

i hope you would take your antibiotics regularly. I believe antibiotic should be taken regularly without lapse to be effective. I do stop drinking without the doctors permission but during the times that i take it, i take it regularly. its now almost 3 years since my diagnosis and now i believe it wont come back again. I am healthy now and actually gained weight. am really thankful. I hope you too guys. the medicines doctors gave me dissolve the lymph nodes. that's what the doctors said. get well soon guys.. :)

hello, im first time to see ur blog, im also having TB adenitis, i want to know how many months gonna be healed?? and is it bad to travel abroad when u have that diagnosis while your in treatment..just tell me some advice thank you

svetlana said...

I am not sure how long it is gonna be healed. it depends on the stage of your illness i think. I was healed after 3 months of meds, and till now years after, there is no more symptoms showing i still have it. the med for tb is 6 months straight without fail for best result. the doctor told me that. but dont worry, tb adenitis is curable and not contagious. i hope you get well soon.. take care and don't forget to take your meds. :)

Hello, may I know what test you undergo before your doctor tells that you are positive in TB adenitis? do you undergo biopsy?thank you. . .

svetlana said...

No. I undergone a PPD or purified protein derivative test.

I was injected in my arms with liquid which i think is the protein.

It was injected in my skin. then the doctor ask me to observe my skin for swelling. after 3 days i have to return to the doctor for checking...

When i returned the swell was measured, I don't remember the measurement of the swell, but the doctor said that I am positive.

I hope that helps..

thanks for reading my page...:)

thanks...
I have another question, how long did your lymph nodes swollen before you decided to have a check up to the doctor? thanks in advance;)

svetlana said...

I don't exactly remember...

It just that, I am very sickly that year... and I was almost always in the hospital for check up of my throat...

then, next I feel the nodes - 3 nodes, actually - in my right shoulder. during that time i just thought that it was because of my nonstop typing in my computer because of my job...

so there was a time when i feel pain, that making me smile is so hard and so painful, i thought a vein would break when i do smile or cry, just then that I decided to have it check...

it was around 2-3 weeks, i believe...

Hi!! I would like to share my story. A horrible story that I had in my life so far. I am currently on my 2nd week for PTB medications, because my doctor said that I have symptoms for TB adenitis, I was scared also when I first heard it even me as a nurse is afraid too. Just this April 2012 I experienced pain on my neck that I find it hard to turn my neck to the right, then I became very busy that I don't mind the fever and muscle pain I was experiencing until it happen again in May. I felt swelling of my nodules on my left neck and experience low grade fever in the afternoon, while I am on antibiotics. And to aggravate more of my condition, I have mouth sores that wont leave my mouth until now. So I really realised how down my immune system is. Imagine How I handle fever in the afternoon, plus swollen lymph nodes on my left neck and mouth sores that i cannot take to eat anything anymore. When the medication was finished the swollen lymph nodes did not disappear but only the swollen muscle on my left neck. Then the lymph nodes become swollen and swollen. I was thinking that I am having cancer and I am very afraid of my life because I have a 4 y.o daughter, an application abroad and for me of course I am not yet done with my life. Everyday i wish that the afternoon would not come so i wont be having fever anymore until the low grade fever escalate to high fever of 38.5 evry afternoon. I am trying not to take antipyretics because I'm about to consume the whole package of it, but left with no choice as to take it until my fever will go down. Then the next day I am going to think what is this really?? Plus I am so worried with my obvious weight loss that I felt so upset looking myself at the mirror. My jeans look awful to me, my skin is dry and wrinkled, the obvious effect of this condition is so depressing. So many questions and fears running into my head, until I met my ENT doctor.
.....to be continued

part 2

With my Chest X-ray clearing me from PTB which was the initial impression of the first ENt doctor that I went to, but did not meet him anymore since he is too harsh to a sickly person like me :-) I need a doctor who would be of big help to me and would somehow sympathize on me. The second ENT doctor did the fine needle biopsy right away. A week after the result showed Chronic inflammation mild, the doctor is expecting a Chronic Granulomous Inflammation- findings for TB adenitis. But anyway she treated me with PTB drugs. Sad with Tb adenitis though not contagious we're still to take TB drugs, so i took the 3 tablets before breakfast unfortunately I had allergies to it. The first time ever in my life to have drug reaction. So what we did, we went experimenting, since PTB drugs are commonly in a fixed dose combination, I am drinking the single dose each for 3 days and add the next medication and watch which one gives allergy to me. So far I have no allergies maybe because the medication I'm taking is generic because there is no branded PTB drugs that is single dose. The PTB drug is soo depressing because it alters your secretions, it turn into red-orange somehow it made me realize that I am having a communicable disease though not contagious still the stereotype is there for those taking PTB drugs, I felt sad. But right now I don't have fever anymore and I amvery much positive now, i thank the good Lord for giving me the lightest diagnosis, i'd rather have Tb adenitis than lymphoma or Cancer. My only fear is I am going abroad and will still be medicating, i wont stiop the medications. I would like to religiously follow the treatment, but the problem is with this kind of drugs I am taking the country that I am going to might be thinking that I am a health risk to them haist!! I'll just keep my drugs carefully. You think this can be seen in the scan and find it suspicious?? Well that's my story. Reading your stories, i know I will be healed to! God bless us all.

P.S.
The doctor said maybe i went through a stressful situation in my life that's why I was hit by it and my immune system is good that i obnly got Tb adenitis instead of PTB which I am thankful for. Last year I am so depressed and very stress wioth my marital life until early this year it was a compounded stress that affects my health. So lesson learned, i'll live my life to the fullest and love my self more!

Hi Svetlana, I was diagnosed of having TB Adenitis aLso. Mine is way painfuL than you guys coz I underwent 2 surgeries of my swoLLen Lymphnodes, different sites :( At first, my physician asked me to choose bet. Fine Needle Aspiration biopsy OR Excission Biopsy. I sought for another opinion and got the same advice. So i go on with the excission biopsy. My physician toLd me right after the surgery that the specimen she got might not be readabLe for the biopsy coz it is so smaLL with pus.. after 4 wks (with no wound heaLing, Looked Like our Lips with the corner side open, not to mention the pus goin out.. :(( ), I got the biopsy resuLt and is negative for TB (I aLso went through a Lot of Laboratories prior to the surgery ie. chest xray, PTB test aLL negative) The pathoLogy report suggests that the specimen shouLd be tested to ruLe out Lymphoma. The resuLt is negative. Then same pathoLogist, AGAIN, suggest a test for Kikuchi Fujimoto. The resuLt is negative. AGAIN, he suggests for another test, SLE (Systemic Lupus Erythematosus) Test!!! And I toLd myself, NO I am not gonna pay again for that test! This pathoLogist is stressing me big time! See, I have been through a lot of stress, fears and everything.. SO I changed my physician, underwent another surgery of the swoLLen Lymphnode that was Left untreated. After a week, the result was TB Adenitis! And now, I am taking anti tb drug plus Vit. b Complex.

I dont know where it came from. Mine is asymptomatic. No fever, nor throat pains. One morning I woke up with a swoLLen Lymphnode on my neck and just after 2 days another one came out, then another one after a day then after 3 days there's another one. NO fever or anything, just the feeLing of "pangangaLay" on my affected shouLder.

svetlana said...

Hi Tracy,
Thanks for sharing your experience. I really believe that if one physician suggest a surgery, it is best to ask for 2nd or 3rd opinion before under going the treatment.
Even I have had many physicians check many out before believing the result.
I hope your are well now and the meds your are taking may comfort you. I know in no time you will be healed.
Take care sis. May God Bless you always..

Good day,

I have had TB adenitis wayback 2007 and I've been treated already but I still have a very small scar on my X-RAY I am planning to go abroad. Do you think I would have a problem on getting a visa going to New Zealand because of the scar on my XRAY?

Please advise.
Thanks!

@anonymous

I don't really have an idea. But reading on Mr. Google just now I have read that the countries under the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), any body with past evidence of PTB or healed from it (any kind of Tuberculosis) are stamped unfit to work. Mostly, countries in this council are Countries in Middle East. But that is only according to the post I have read.

You can still ask the professional dear. Don't lose hope. I pray for you that you can get your Visa. And that New Zealand are open for those who are healed.

Another site provides information about health qualification for applying visa for New Zealand. It says there that as long as you have all the proper documents signed by the doctor that you are all healed and you are not a threat to Kiwis, followed all required medical procedures or tasked requested to you, you will be granted.

So Good Luck Dear...

Please come back and share with us if you got your Visa or not. Thanks...

Hi svetlana,

How long did you take your medicine? Is it true that you take your meds 3months only?
Because my gf was also diagnosed with tb adenitis, she is now in Denmark and I am afraid that she cannot continue her meds because the medicine I sent is still pending on custom control in Denmark.. Its her 4th month now on medication and she is already gaining weight, lymph nodes almost disappear.
Is your doctor told you to stop the medication after 3 months?

thank you. . .

svetlana said...

Hello Gabriel

Thank you so much for taking your time reading my page. Yes I did stop my meds after 3 months without the knowledge of my doctor. I don't know, i just got tired of having those medicines.

TB adenitis meds are mostly Vitamin B, so gaining weight is normal. Its been 5 years, i think, since I last taken my meds and I felt nothing now. My lymph nodes didn't seem to return and I wish it will not. I am perfectly healthy ever since and yes, i did gain some weight.

I hope your gf can finish her meds, besides it's just two months away to finishing it. Does Denmark don't have those kind of meds? maybe she can buy there?

I don't advice you to stop your medication, besides it is still best to follow your doctors instructions. I'm just sharing your my experience. and so far Im good..

In God's Grace... :) I wish your girlfriend fast recovery..

Hi, Im Liz... there was a lump in the upper left are of my neck. After having several tests and initial medication, I was advised to undergo excision. And so I did. It's been a week now, and it seems i never had an excision and the lump is still there because I can still feel something hard on my neck. Though it's much smaller. Is it normal to still have that after excision? I mean as if to have a remaining portion of the lump. Will it disappear?

PS: my surgeon's impression from the start is tb adenitis. I will meet him tomorrow for the final diagnosis. I'll ask that question to him, but maybe I could have the answer from a third person that is why I am asking you. :-)

One more thing, in average, how much the medication costs a month?

svetlana said...

Hello Liz,
Thanks for visiting.. I have no experience with excision so i don't have anything to share. My lumps that time that i was diagnosed with tb adenitis were three and they are small and placed side by side on my shoulder. they ached. i couldn't remember the cost, but the medicines were not costly if you have an earning every month that is beyond at least 10k. in the year 2007 when i was diagnosed i was earning lower than 10k and I was on a budget. so it was expensive for me.. also, maybe the medicines have changed price already, a lot has already happened in economy. I hope you got good results with your consultation. :) get well dear.. i will pray for you..

hi, i am Lee, i was also diagnosed with Tb adenitis yesterday (feb.9,2013) from my biopsy result.

i am afraid of taking meds because i am going in japan anytime this week, for 3 months. I already had my visa. i dont know, too many negative thoughts coming to my mind. by tuesday (feb.12,2013)ill bring my SGOT result to my ENT doctor. perhaps he will prescribe me some meds for tb adenitis.

could you give me an advice, if i am abroad for 3 months and taking meds? is it alright if i am away from my doctor for 3 months, i cant go for regular check up?

what should i do best? i am really scared. Please help

svetlana said...

Hello, thanks for trusting me. I hope some doctor could read your inquiry. but i'm not a doctor. my best advise is ask your physician about it. do not fear. the meds for tb adenitis is good for 6 months. that is, if you do not have complications or other diseases that you need to attend to. besides, your doctor will tell you the schedule of your return for check up. everything will be alright. there is nothing to fear about tb adenitis, it is curable and purely vitamin b is the answer. we just lack some vitamins.. :)

THank you for your early response.

hi..i just had my check-up the other day,& my doctor suspected for a TB Adenitis..i was shocked upon hearing it because i don't even have a cough.what prompted me from consultation is that i noticed a swollen part on my right neck on that sunday night(march31,2013)then on april 1,i noticed again another swollen thing on my left side of the neck.that's why i decided to see my doctor last wed..i'm devastated actually because i'm also 8wks pregnant..i just hope the baby will be ok during the course of my medication..

svetlana said...

Hello anonymous,
i hope all is well. congratulations for your pregnancy. i can understand your fear. pregnancy is really sensitive, you don't usually take medicine once you are pregnant but i'm sure your doctor will make sure that your baby will not be affected and be safe.
tb adenitis do not have cough, it's not part of adenitis's symptom because it's not our lungs that is affected. Our lymph nodes are the affected part if we have tb adenitis. I had 3 swollen part on my right neck too. it's so painful that i thought i will die just for laughing.
don't worry, tb adetinis is curable within six months.
I will pray for you and your baby.

I wanna know something from you ms. svetlana. ahm. during your 6 months medication, does the lymph nodes automatically disappered or they was also taken out through surgery while taking anibiotics? I'm scared of surgeries!!!! anyway, Good to hear you're now totally healed :) hope i also make it :)

I know you can do it, friend. You will be totally healed after continuous takes of medication. Just follow your doctors advice. I'm sure you will be good. God Bless

hello,
i'd like to share my experience about my illness. it was last december 5 when i felt pain in my left neck then become large after few days. i ignore the hard lump until it became two in the month of march. so i decided to go to ENT clinic. the doctor's assumption was TB adenitis. this is my first time to hear this illness. he prescribed me clindamycin 300 mg. then after one week i had my follow check up. He suggested me to undergo FNAC or aspiration biopsy. the diagnosis was negative for malignant cells with the description o aspirate shows lymphocytes and few neutrophils.

I am just confused why the doctor prescribe me Fixcom 4 for 1 month medication.Eventhough the doctor's first assumption is not yet confirmed.

( my opinion was the specimen was minimal and just aspirated with small needle to have a sample that's why it has vague result)

the doctor told me that his assumption TB adenitis was was based on my history and risk factor of having the illness.

is this medication will affect me while i am reviewing for board exam.

I am greatful to answer my questions from you.
I would be glad to share your opinions about my condition.

thank you and god bless you.

hi! just want to share my experience.
last July 3,2013, i noticed some pain on my left part of the neck upon waking up. the following day, it become swollen. so i immediately had a check-up to a doctor and she suggested that i have viral infection of the lymph node in the left supraclavicular region. no medications were given since it is viral (means it will heal by itself from 4-5 days). but after 5 days, the lump is still there and it's painful. so i went to an ENT and she then advised me to undergo neck and chest CT-SCAN. aside from the node on my neck, the result showed also 2 small nodes on the upper lobe of my lungs and some nodes on my breasts. upon seeing the result, the doctor ruled out malignancy vs adenitis. i was really so upset and devastated this time upon seeing the frist impression of the doctor. i also underwent ultrasound of the neck and breast and the result was "probably benign." so i underwent fine needle aspiration biopsy but unfortunately it was nondiagnostic since the doctor did not able to extract enough tissues. so i was again instructed to undergo incision biopsy this time. during biopsy many puss were drained. the result showed acute and chronic inflammation. upon seeing my doctor she instructed me to have PPD test for tb and it turned out positive w/ 17mm. she concluded that i have tb adenitis and gave me fixcom4 3 tabs per day. i am now taking it for 2 weeks and feeling better and have follow-up checkup tomorrow. it is 1 month now since my incision biopsy but my wound is still open and small amount of puss still goes out. the lump is now very small but i can still feel it.
may i ask how long will the lump shrink completely?

svetlana said...

hello,
thank you for sharing your experience.
good thing you are feeling well now. Take care. and please finish your medication. The lymph nodes will shrink completely depends on the effect of the medicine or how your body react to the tablets. Mine shrinks after 5 weeks.

hi guys! good thing i found this blog! i really need to speak with soneone right now! i found enlarge node ( nit swollen because it doesn't hurt) about 2 weeks ago.. i visited a couple of doctors already ( 7 in total) hahaha thats how paranoid i am.. anyway, i did not experience any fever, weight loss or pain, just enlarge nodes. Anyway, dr asked me to had cbc, xray and ultrasound along with taking antibiotic for 7 days.. it dis not shrink after.. so now i am soooooo worried. i am so scared of lymphoma!!!!!!! anyway, ive had my ct scn yesterday bec doc said if it is tb adenitis, it will take time to heal so he pref ct scan.... most of you said that you experienced swollen nodes.. mine is not... should i be worried!??? i also did not experience other symptom... whew, to be honest, I pref tb adenitis thn simething more serious!! Lord help me!! please give me updates guys!!!!!!

svetlana said...

actually i never did a ct scan. the test made to me was called PPD (Purified Protein Derivative) it was injected in my left arm and was sent home. after a given period of time to come back to check the swollen part of the injection. There was required measurement for the enlargement before I was declared positive for TB adenitis.

Visiting 7 doctors would be expensive but having more opinion was better. You did a good job and all you have to do is pray and listen to your doctor.

We will wait for the update dear of your ct scan. And I am sure praying for your health. :)

Joy of Pasig said...

Hi Cathy...I had my CT Scan done with contrast (to see more detailed view of the chest and the neck) done in Medical City. Neck CT confirmed enlarge lymph nodes and the chest ct scan showed that I have pneumonia. Doctor told me that my immune system is quit low. Anyway, he never mentioned about malignancy or something close to that. He said that the CT scan would somehow show if there is something malignant. As mentioned before, I am so worried of Lymphoma. Infact, having TB adenitis is way much better the BIG C... Hehehe.. Anyway, although I am already diagnosed with TB Adenitis, I am still hoping for biopsy. Just to be sure..But seems like doctor do not want to do that anymore since TB Lymp nodes will take time to heal....Should I be satisfied with CT SCAN that cost p20,500 done in Medical City for my diagnosis? Or i should have to undergo biopsy?????? please let me know guys..Thank you so much!!!! JOY of PASIG

Hi,I'm a mother of 7yrs old boy who was also diagnosed of tb adenitis, through fine needle biopsy, his pedia hemetology is not satisfy with fine needle coz it might not be sure but still he advised to take myrin p forte 1 1/2 tablet a day for 1month.hoping for the best result until our next visit so he could not think of another lab test. I believed that god has a plan for all this. Im so scared when negative thoughts arrived but it doesn't help so Better think positive. Thank u for blog,it help me a lot.

Hello wendel. Its sad to hear that the patient is a kid. I really hope he will get well soon. Maybe you should take him to another pedia. It is best to hear a 2nd or 3rd opinion. And always follow the doktors advice even if it seems unreasonable.
We will pray for your son. God Bless

Hi, last feb. 2014 I was diagnosed with tb adenitis. My pulmonologist told me to take fnab (fine needle aspiration biopsy), the result is chronic lymphadenitis. My doctor said it was tb adenitis, my doctor referred me to ent doctor to do surgery, but he just did aspiration instead of surgery kasi less ang chance n mag heal agad ung incision at continuous lumabas ang abscess. 3x lng ako nag pa aspirate at the same time I took my medicine. I was very scared that time kasi may apply ako s abroad at mag eexam ako ng March to have license s uae. Thank God I passed the exam. After I passed the agency called me to retake my medical... Retake ako kasi 6 months ago n ung medical ko s agency... another problem ulit, stress s kakaisip, baka this time positive maging result ng medical ko, take note my neck is swollen sa left side. Hay thank God ulit kc all my results are negative, at hndi npalpate ng doctor ung swollen nodes ko at hndi din nya npansin kasi I hide it using my hair and I'm wearing turtle neck... Hahahah..June 2014 I receive my visa. But my worries is not yet done, coz another medical pagdating ng uae at baka mhold ako dahil s dami gamot n dala ko at for antituberculosis p ung gamot, sobra higpit nila, when they found out n my tb or hepa k automatic banned k n s uae. Hay I'm very very thankful ke God kasi ndala ung gamot good for 3months at my medical result here in uae is negative... Now I'm working here in uae. I just want to share my experience for those who have application to work abroad.. Don't lose hope. Ang advice ko lng pray, have faith and be thankful that our disease is curable, listen to your doctor, take your medicine on time, and eat healthy...

Hi marlatuazon

Just take the meds and keep the check up schedule.

I hope makatulong ito sayo. Less worries kana.. baka lalong humina ang immune system mo kpg nadepress ka.. Just pray and take care of yourself. Eat healthy.. :)

Hi, just want to share my experience here.

Also just recently confirmed that I have TB Adenitis. Had to go through a bit of hell before the official diagnosis.

It started at around mid-late Feb 2017, I felt a small lump just a bit above my collarbone. It's not really big or that noticeable but if I press down a bit I could really feel it. It wasn't so alarming for me at first since I've had instances where my nodes would appear and disappear for a while after massaging it.

Then at around 1st week of March I noticed that the node was bigger. Like, nearly half a pea-sized and it was solid & smooth. It didn't seem like massaging would get rid of it. There wasn't really any pain, but that uncomfortable feeling when something is pressed against your neck.

March 9, I consulted with my first doctor who frankly gave me a scare when she brought up the possibilities of either TB, Lymphoma, or Cancer. She simply prescribed antibiotics and had me under observation for a week. The antibiotics seemed to have kept the node in check but it felt like the infection spread out to my other nodes once I finished taking it.

A week later, I saw another doctor, this time I was told to do an Ultrasound. And was given Vitamin C & a different set of antibiotics.

Week 3, saw a different doctor and had my Ultrasound results checked. They somewhat wanted to rule out the possibility of Cancer since the Ultrasound looked as though I only had an infection. I undergone Chest X-Ray & AFB test to confirm TB. And I was also endorsed to a Surgeon since Biopsy was a possibility at this point.

Week 4, this is when I consulted with my current doctor/surgeon. She explained alot to me about the medical results I've had..

- Ultrasound, she confirmed that I didn't have cancer since my Lymph node still had the center portion (which means it's only an infection and not cancerous)
- X-ray & AFB test negative, meaning that whatever I had was not PTB. However from the looks of my Ultrasound she was somewhat confident it was TB

She went into detail and explained other facts about TB, Lymphoma and Cancer and assured me that my symptoms more or less leads to TB Adenitis. She advised me to get a second trial for my AFB test before going through Biopsy since it's surgery. She didn't want to cut if TB can be detected without it.

After confirming that my 2nd AFB was negative, we went on with the biopsy. It was a minor surgery, cervical lymph node extraction. (tho i was awake throughout the whole thing. lol) During the surgery my doctor found traces of puss like secretions that she said was the result of TB. From there she was truly confident that I did have TB.

She then referred me to a Pulmonologist and from there on I started the TB medications. Now I'm in my 3rd to 4th week on medication. I've taken strong meds before so I'm used to it's side effects.

Not I'm just hoping that there are no further complications and that my liver can take the meds just fine.

I'm also taking Vitamin C and B complex. Idk if I should say it was a relief that I got TB as a diagnosis but atleast it ain't Cancer. Hopefully I could finish my medication and finally rid of this disease. still got a long way to go tho.
